Simon Farry is Rio Tinto’s Head of Steel Decarbonisation. In his role, Simon has accountability for leading Rio Tinto’s efforts to reduce iron ore Scope 3 emissions through working in partnership across the steel value chain. Prior to this role, Simon spent 5 years as Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Iron Ore, and was accountable for the global sales and marketing activities for Rio Tinto’s iron ore products.

Simon joined Rio Tinto subsidiary Comalco in 1995, as a graduate at New Zealand Aluminium Smelters. He has since worked across Rio Tinto’s Aluminium, Bauxite and Alumina, Copper, Coal, Diamonds and Iron Ore businesses.

His experience includes operational, commercial and leadership roles based in New Zealand, Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, France and Singapore. Simon holds a Bachelor of Science degree and Post Graduate Diploma from Otago University in New Zealand.
