Thomas Hansmann has been CTO of the management of the SMS group based in Düsseldorf since 2023. As the global market leader in metallurgical plant engineering, SMS employs around 14,600 people worldwide and achieved sales of more than 3.1 billion euros in 2022.

Hansmann began his career in 1995 at the SMS group subsidiary Paul Wurth in Luxembourg, where he most recently managed the Italian company and served as COO and CTO of the company. In addition, he took over the management of the Center of Excellence Metallurgy at SMS group in 2019 before being appointed to the management of SMS group as CTO in 2023. Thomas Hansmann received his doctorate in Metallurgical Engineering from RWTH Aachen.
