Greg Murphy is Executive Vice President of Business Services and General Counsel for Nucor Corporation. In his role, Greg is responsible for Nucor’s legal, environmental, public affairs, corporate communications and sustainability functions.

Greg joined Nucor in 2015 from Moore & Van Allen PLLC, where he was the LitigationGroup Practice Leader and served for a decade on the firm’s Executive Committee.Greg’s background involved representing a broad base of business clients in jury and non-jury trials, arbitrations and other forms of alternative dispute resolution, focusing on complex contractual disputes, antitrust and unfair competition defense, intellectual property litigation and lender liability defense, as well as environmental, products liability, construction and securities disputes.

Greg was named Nucor’s General Counsel and Vice President of Legal Affairs in May2015. He assumed his additional responsibilities as Vice President of Environmental and Public Affairs in September 2020 and March 2020, respectively.

Greg was appointed to his current position effective January 1, 2021. During this time,Greg has focused heavily on Nucor’s expanding sustainability and ESG efforts. Under his leadership, Nucor has established a dedicated Corporate Sustainability Team and a Greenhouse Gas Reduction Technology Team. Greg also led efforts to develop and implement Nucor’s greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets, announced in the summer of 2021. He regularly speaks publicly and engages with investors, public policy makers and other organisations about GHG reductions strategies in the steel industry.

Greg also serves as the Chair of the Global Steel Climate Council, an international organisation established to set ambitious, credible, production agnostic science-based targets for the reduction of GHGs in the steel industry.Greg has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Canisius College, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan.
